Tubular George Inc. is also famous for having brightened over 38,000 Santa Barbara homes with SOLATUBE TM SKYLIGHTS, and for helping homeowners ventilate their home with Whole House Fan systems.

This family owned and run business began in the 70s when George Murdoch, then at Dos Pueblos High School, was cutting and selling firewood with his brother. George loved that his customers would enjoy cozy evenings by the fire and wanted to also ensure that they would do so safely. He started the Clean Sweep Company in 1980 with the slogan “Keeping You Safe ‘n Warm”.

In 1993, George discovered SOLATUBE TM SKYLIGHTS, a brainchild of San Diego based Solatube International. This simple and effective way to brighten home naturally and without heat, became an instant success in Santa Barbara. More recently, Solatube international expended its product lines to Whole House Fans, another simple way to improve home life with natural ventilation.

As a result, TUBULAR GEORGE’s logo was expanded to “Keeping you Safe’n Warm… and Bright ‘n Healthy”!
